What is a Classified Ad?

A classified ad is an ad that allows the buyer to make a purchase by contacting the seller directly. No bidding is a involved. Placing a classified ad is a quick and simple way to make a sale.

Requesting a Price Alert

If you like a product you've found on MrBuyGuy.com, but you aren't completely satisfied with the price, you can request a Price Alert.

From the Product page, click on Price Alert.

You'll be asked if you want to receive an email when the product's price changes.

If you click Yes, MrBuyGuy will notify you, via email, when the price has changed.

You can purchase the product when the price is right for you.

Note: To receive Price Alerts, you must be a registered member of MrBuyGuy.com.

I am a personal user, how do fees work on MrBuyGuy?

 As a personal user your fees are paid on a pre - pay  basis.  Simply login to MrBuyGuy and click on the List Item at the top of the page and go through the selling steps to list your auction.  On the confirmation page, your fees will be calculated and you will be taken to a payment page where you can select a payment method to pay for your auction fees.  There is a minimum auction fee purchase of 5 pounds.  Alternatively if you would like to purchase fees outside the auction process you can do this by logging in to MrBuyGuy pressing on My Account the top of the page, then clicking  Credits and Payments. You can then pre-purchase credit.

How can I protect myself from phishing attacks?

To protect yourself from phishing attacks, never open suspicious emails, especially ones asking for personal information like a username, password or credit card details.

MrBuyGuy uses sophisticated systems to keep your personal details safe. We will never send you an email asking for your personal information or phone you and ask for personal details. Be careful if anyone emails you or calls you and says they work for MrBuyGuy.

The MrBuyGuy Administrator is the only person at MrBuyGuy.com who will send you messages.

I won an item but no longer want to buy it. What should I do?

You are obliged to buy the item that won, as your bid is considered a contract.

If you think you  have a valid reason for cancelling your purchase, contact the seller and explain your position. The seller may understand your concern and be willing to work with you. If the seller does not accept your explanation, you must purchase the item. if you fail to do so, an unpaid item will be documented in your account. Too many unpaid items can lead to account restriction or suspension. 

What are the advantages of registering as a business user and having my own store?

When you register with MrBuyGuy, you can choose to sign up as either a Private User or a Business User. Being a Business User allows you to create a store.

Having a store allows you to list all the items you want to sell in one place. This makes it easy for a buyer who’s interested in purchasing any of your products to view and purchase your other products as well.

You can use your store to show off all the items you’re selling and attract buyers.

With a store, you can:

  • Create a unique store theme that attracts buyers.
  • Upload as many images of your items as you want, so buyers can see them in any context and at any angle.
  • Save images to a photo gallery, so you can use the same images multiple times without having to upload them repeatedly. You can resize, rotate and edit the images in your photo gallery.
  • Add subtitles to your listings. This will make it easier for buyers to find your listings when they search for items.
  • Add a second category to your listings. This means more buyers will find your listings.
  • Use bold and highlighting in your listings.

All of these features are available free with any store.

Having a store also entitles you to free promarketing when you create a listing.

Depending on the store type you choose, you may also receive a discount off your total fees.

Additional features available with premium stores include

  • Inventory management
  • The ability to import listings from eBay
  • The ability to create a newsletter for buyers and to manage their email addresses and subscriptions
  • The ability to view your store’s statistics so you can monitor your selling activity and make improvements.

Why can't I log in?

If you can't log in to MrBuyGuy.com, you may be using the wrong username, email address or password, or your cookies may be disabled.

Wrong username, email, address or password

If you enter a wrong username, email address or password, you'll see an error message. If you forgot your password, ask for a password reset. MrBuyGuy will email you with information on how to reset your password.

Cookies disabled

A cookie is a small file that is stored in your computer. Cookies let you log in to websites and allow the websites to work effectively. If your cookies are disabled, you may not be able to log in to MrBuyGuy or use the site correctly. 

Your cookies are controlled by your browser. You can enable cookies by changing your browser preferences. Below, you will find where to go to control cookies on the most common browsers:

Cookies can be affected by a firewall, which can prevent your cookie information from being sent to a website, and by browsing acceleration software, which sometimes removes cookie data.

I have paid for an item but have not received it. What should I do?

 If you have paid for an item but you have not received it, or if you have not heard from the seller since paying for the item,  your first course of action should be to contact the seller.  Bear in mind that on weekends and on public holidays sellers might not be working.  Give the seller sufficient time to get back to you. 

If you fail to hear back from the seller after a reasonable length of time, your next course of action is to use MrBuyGuy Buyer Protection.

To do this, select Dispute under the Choose option next to your won auction.  This will take you to the Dispute section where you can enter in the details of the dispute you would like to submit.  Once you have completed and submitted your information, the seller will be notified and a formal dispute wlll be placed  against them.  The seller will then be prompted to reply to the dispute. 

Tthe buyer and seller should work together to solve the problem. 

If the seller does not reply, MrBuyGuy will intervene and try to contact the seller for you.  In some cases, we will suspend the seller and pass details on to law enforcements to bring legal action against sellers who are committing fraud.

Can I change my feedback?

You can't change your feedback once you've submitted it. However, you can reply to feedback and, if you're unhappy with feedback you've received, you can submit a reconsideration request.
